The Fitting Day!

The appointment is for the full day!

The fitter will call you approx. 30 mins before he is due to arrive. If you need to leave your house for any reason take your mobile phone with you. If you do receive a call from a number you don’t recognise make sure you answer it as it will more than likely be the fitter calling you.

Before the fitter arrives, you need to make sure that the area having the new flooring is clear and all the old flooring has been taken up. The rooms will need to be clear of furniture. Although we do realise that some furniture such as sofas may be too large to place in another area. The fitters will work around this.

Vinyl…

If you having vinyl flooring you need to make sure that the floor is perfectly smooth and free from any nails or pieces of litter etc. As any imperfections will show through the vinyl. It is also important that the floor is flat and smooth. When you take up your old flooring you may find that the floor is not suitable for vinyl. If this happens you must have the floor treated by a professional floor layer before the vinyl is fitted.

Grippers…

If you are having another carpet fitted. Please leave the original grippers in place. If the grippers need replacing the fitters will do this for you. If you try to remove the grippers there is a good chance you will damage the floor. If the floor is concrete it is extremely important that you leave the grippers down. If you try to remove grippers from a concrete floor there is a large probability that you will damage the floor and make it difficult to lay new grippers.

White Goods…

Please be aware the fitters will not remove white goods such as fridges, freezers, washing machine etc due to health and safety reasons. If you do want them moving before your new flooring is fitted you must remove them yourself. If you are unable please explain this the sales representative at the point of measuring.

We care about your carpet, vinyl and laminate flooring and so should you.

Carpet…

No matter what type of carpet you have, you should vacuum it at least once a week. Not only does this keep it clean and its value stable, but it also protects it against moth infestation. Most stains can be removed with mild detergents and lukewarm water, but you should always pay close attention to the care instructions of the respective manufacturer.

Laminate…

Regularly run a canister vacuum cleaner over the surface to remove dirt and debris from cracks and crevices. If you are using an upright model. If possible turn off the rotating brush, this will prevent the possibility of the bristles scratching the floor. About once a month, damp mop the floor for a thorough deep cleaning. Kitchens and spaces that see a lot of foot traffic might need it more frequently.

To prevent damage, do not polish or was a laminate floor. Also do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring powder and steel wool. They all have the potential to scratch and damage the protective finish.

Vinyl…

Cleaning vinyl floors requires a straightforward cleaning routine. Wiping or vacuuming is sufficient for cleaning your vinyl floor on a daily basis. Removing dust with a broom or vacuum cleaner avoids the build-up of dust and dirt and makes it easier to maintain. Every week, or more often if necessary, its enough to wipe the floor with a damp mop or a cloth moistened with warm water and a neutral detergent. This helps remove dirt and keep the floor in top condition. Keep in mind that you don’t need a large amount of water to clean your floor.
